Road to Hell and back

We have had a fairly good day today.
Been to Kinlochleven which was nice. then on to Loch Etiv, lovely and then took the road to hell at the other end of Loch Etiv I think I took the best picture on my iphone when I managed to open my eyes and stop gripping my hands.
Was it worth the journey? I don't know.

Wales: castles and piers

On the 7th June we started out on a few days away to visit the northern coastline of Wales.
The weather was not too good that weekend but we saw some beautiful castles and piers, there was a pier at Bangor which was a surprise because we had to really hunt to find it.

We also took a little time out to go on the railway up to the top of Snowdon we did not make it though because it was too windy and we only got up part of the way

Conway was lovely

I can't believe we saw so many places on a 5 day trip along the coast from Whitley Bay to Leith, we were very lucky to have stayed in some lovely hotels the first being Doxford Hall and the second right on a cliff top overlooking the sea and Bass Rock called Canty Bay House, near Tantallon Castle.
The guests stay in a newly built extension to the house which is beautiful, our room was spacious, the breakfast was lovely everything freshly cooked and we were made to feel very welcome. We wished that we could have stayed longer.

Our plan is to have cards printed of our favourite views could you please let us know if there was one you really liked so that we will know what pictures are the most popular. Thank you.

Veiw of Canty Bay House

We saw many dramatic castles this one at Holy Island was well worth a visit, its not what we expected when we went inside, I won't spoil the trip for you but its different........

Stacks of stones on Holy Island from a distance looked very strange

Leith lighthouse, this was right next to our hotel

Newton by the sea yet another lovely bay with a sandy beach

We knew that Bamburgh had a beautiful sandy beach but had not realised just how many fabulous beaches and quiet harbours there were along the North East to the Borders coastline

Here is Alnmouth, it has a little harbour and a long stretch of beach that had a golf course right beside it.

The super castle and beach at Bamburgh

We just missed the rain here at Bamburgh, Phil caught this reflection of the clouds on the sea.
